Удилище применяется крепкое, леска с большим диаметром, прочный поводок, который щука не сможет перекусить, а также поплавок с большой грузоподъемностью.
Это не значит, что можно просто собрать элементы, которые будут иметь солидные показатели основных характеристик. Их нужно подбирать правильно, согласно основным рекомендациям.
Удилище лучше подойдет телескопического типа. Такую удочку будет легче собирать и разбирать. Это позволит сэкономить много времени, так как места ловли, возможно, придется менять часто. Рекомендуется использовать изделия длиной около 5 м и тестом от 10 г до 30 г.
Катушка подойдет инерционная или безынерционная. Леска должна иметь солидный запас прочности, чтобы можно было вытягивать добычу из зарослей.

Так как поймать щуку можно не только при помощи удочки, следует рассмотреть и другие эффективные снасти. Часто применяются кружки и жерлицы, которые дают хорошие результаты в летний период.
Кружки являют собой катушки большого диаметра из плавучего материала, такого как пенопласт, в сборе с антенной.
На него наматывают леску диаметром 0.3-0,35 мм длиной от 10 до 20 м. На ее конце крепят металлический поводок.
Можно использовать поводки не только из металла, но, как показывает практика, именно этот материал наиболее устойчив к воздействиям острых зубов и сильных челюстей хищника.
Также цепляется живец и грузило, вес которого подбирается в зависимости от веса и подвижности приманки.
В момент атаки щуки, когда снасть находится в рабочем состоянии, кружок переворачивается и леска сматывается с него. Верх и низ кружков окрашивается в разные цвета, чтобы при поклевке рыбак мог легко определить, какая снасть сработала.
Главным условием для использования кружков является наличие лодки. Без нее такая ловля щуки на живца будет невозможной.
На жерлицу хищника можно ловить весной, летом и осенью. Конструкция снасти очень проста, поэтому ее легко сделать самостоятельно. В народе ее называют рогулькой, чем жерлица по сути и является.
Чтобы привести ее в готовность на раздвоенную половину наматывают основную леску. К ней привязывают поводок, цепляют скользящий груз и приманку.
Противоположную часть рогульки крепят к свисающей над водой ветке или к шесту, воткнутому в землю под углом.
Леска фиксируется в пропиле, который есть в одном из рогов. Когда хищник нападет на приманку, леска выскочит, и будет разматываться. В основном таким способом щуку ловят осенью, когда прибережная вода достаточно остывает после летней жары.

Для эффективной охоты нужно правильно выбрать приманку. Необходимо руководствоваться несколькими важными условиями:
